Job Description
The Design System team unites product, design, and, engineering teams around a common visual and brand language with which to work more efficiently and consistently across platforms and applications. We provide comprehensive documentation, code, and UI toolkits that set the standard for styles, components, and accessibility best practices, which in turn, allow our teams across CVS and Aetna to focus more on evolving a cohesive user experience.
We're seeking to add a talented and thoughtful lead product designer to our cross-functional team who can combine design vision, user insights, technical knowledge, and creativity to deliver elegant and usable components across multiple platforms. This role is critical to our success and requires someone who self-identifies as both a designer and builder, and who will help drive the evolution of our design system.
* Apply the full suite of design methodologies - user research, UX, interaction, visual, motion - to validate design direction and then generate final comps, assets, and UI toolkits (e.g. Sketch libraries).
* In conjunction with brand partners, understand how both CVS and Aetna brands should manifest themselves in digital products and then apply this knowledge to typography, color, iconography, and spacing.
* Work closely with Accessibility partners to ensure accessibility requirements are defined and met.
* Work hand-in hand with developers throughout design and development processes.
* Collaborate with developers to groom features, create user stories, and prepare components for release.
* Propose new approaches, workflows, and tools to the design system team to improve efficiency.
* Conduct design reviews and confidently communicate decision-making rationale to team members and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
* Onboard designers and developers on the usage of the design system through 1-on-1 training and group presentations.
* Coach internal contributors on how best to identify and propose new styles and components.

Required Qualifications
* 5+ years of experience in UX, interaction, product and/or visual design.
* Demonstrable experience designing for both web (desktop, mobile) and native (iOS, Android) experiences.
* Advanced skills in typography, iconography, color theory, and grid systems, including 3+ years of experience in Sketch and Sketch libraries.
* Work portfolio that demonstrates a synthesis of multiple inputs (user, business, technical) and creative problem solving
* Solid grasp of design system approaches (purpose, ingredients, documentation) as well as human interface and style guidelines.
* Knowledge and appreciation for front-end coding practices, from how designs are dissected to how coding decisions are made.
* Real-world experience with accessibility and inclusive design.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.

Preferred Qualifications
* Strong portfolio when it comes to native mobile design.
* Experience producing designs for large-scale, enterprise products in an agile environment.
* Skills in generative and evaluative research methods to uncover user insights.
* Front-end coding experience (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Web Components).
* Knowledge or certification in SAFe.

Education
High School diploma required.
Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Design or related field of study preferred.
